This program is specifically designed to encourage LSAMP students to consider graduate school and the professorate.

The students spend more than one summer with the same faculty team. Because the students spend a longer time with the faculty member, they are not required to have such in-depth knowledge of the subject area before beginning the process.

Students spend one summer as the junior member of a student research team.  The next summer, they will be the senior member of a team, and act as a mentor to the junior member.
