Research Experiences for Teachers

(RET)

Present

VaNTH has two RET site awards that are presently active:

1) As a result of the previous RET work at Vanderbilt for high school science classrooms, Stacy Klein, Ph.D. applied for and received a new RET site award which began in summer 2004. Click here to find out about this month-long program and apply.  Dr. Klein also has opportunities for teachers and professors to participate in one-week workshops.

2) Northwestern student researchers, lead by Suzanne Olds, Ph.D., working on a PER award, created materials for the 8th grade classroom.  As an outgrowth of that experience, Dr. Olds applied for and received an RET site award.  To find out more about that program click here.

Past

A single NSF RET Supplement was split between two of the VaNTH sites.  At each site, the teachers worked with the VaNTH researchers to develop educational materials with a strong bioengineering focus for the K-12 classrooms.
