What teachers say
"The optics mosaic was an opportunity for my co-teacher and I to combine our anatomy and physics classes and teach a creative and academically-rigorous curriculum. Our students enjoyed seeing the connections between different disciplines and with real life. The unit’s focus on hands-on work and original design was appreciated by our students."
"The week I spent at the VIBES workshop was one of the most energizing experiences in my recent teaching experience. The integration of physics and biology was wonderful and a great way to teach this curriculum. My students found themselves "thinking" and the learning was incredible. I really enjoyed teaching these concepts with the VIBES model."
"The VIBES curriculum is one that the students and I have very much enjoyed using. It gives students the opportunity to apply the theories of biology and physics in a way that has personal interest to them. The same concepts are covered as in traditional teaching methods; however, the students immediately apply the concepts to design a solution to a specific, real world problem. The projects have a profound effect of "concreting" the concepts for the students and helping them gain a more fundamental and thorough understanding of the materials. In addition, the materials offer students the opportunity to explore various interest areas to confirm aptitude or redirect their attention elsewhere based upon real experiences. It is our plan to continue to utilize these wonderful modules and mosaics and expand our library as more become available."
