Swimming Module
Objectives
- Understand specificity of athletic training.
- Understand the body’s energy production systems.
- Understand the limitations of the energy production systems and the consequences of working beyond their capabilities.
- Design non-invasive tests to quantify peak swimming performance.
Description
This module was designed with a physiology or biology class in mind. The students will learn about glycolysis, aerobic energy production, anaerobic energy production, and the production of lactic acid. Students will research how to quantitatively assess a swimmer’s performance and design a non-invasive method of doing so.
Concepts and Skills
